Brent The Bull

The Story Behind the Name:

The owners of EliteFlyers.com a Miami Beach Printing Company; Donny and Jenny had a wonderful childhood growing up in Miami with their great friend Brent David Petersen. Brent was born September 1, 1977 to his incredible parents Dennis and Becky. He was born with Cystic Fibrosis and at a young age had troubles breathing. When he would go surfing in the ocean Brent could breathe again. His lungs would open up and the salt water would clear out his airways. Brent was a graduate of Columbus High School in Miami, FL and after graduation Brent, Donny and Chris were blessed to have traveled to Costa Rica on a surf trip. At the age of 19 a drug company came to Brent and asked him for a wish. He wished to surf Typhoon Lagoon with his two of his best friends Donny and Joe. He then carried on to The University of Central Florida and graduated with a Degree of Bachelor of Science, Liberal Studies. In January of 1999, Brent had a double lung transplant at The University of North Carolina. His recovery went well and he married the love of his life Heather Coe. BDP lived everyday to the fullest! Unfortunately, Brent passed away May 10, 2002. Elite Flyers is so privileged yet humbled to be able to name and adopt a shark after Brent David Petersen (BDP) so his spirit will continue to surf and swim on.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that ravages the lungs and digestive system. You can support the fight against cystic fibrosis today! If you may kindly make a donation in the name of our friend Brent David Petersen by clicking here. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world's leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. They are dedicated to attacking CF from every angle. Thier focus is to support the development of new drugs to fight the disease, improve the quality of life for those with CF and -- ultimately -- to find a cure.

Here are some other organizations Brent would want us to support:

UM Shark Research & Conservation Program

Directed by Dr. Neil Hammerschlag, the Predator Ecology Lab and Shark Research & Conservation Program (SRC) at the University of Miami conducts science centered broadly on food-web dynamics and the behavioral ecology, conservation biology and movement ecology of marine predators. Research projects currently underway are primarily focused on the ecology, movement and conservation of sharks.

Mauli Ola Foundation

Harnessing the healing powers of the ocean, The Mauli Ola Foundation (MOF) is on its 10th year of providing hope and confidence to individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) and other genetic diseases by introducing surfing and ocean-based activities as a natural-based therapy.

Ambry Genetics

Since Ambry's leadership created it in 2006, the Mauli Ola Foundation (MOF) has helped impact children with cystic fibrosis and other inherited disorders by pairing them with professional surfers and athletes that introduce them to the natural benefits of surfing. MOF was founded after a scientific publication showed that the ocean’s saltwater naturally helps clear out mucus that builds up in the lungs of people with cystic fibrosis.
